The Tern HSD P00 is proof that a cargo bike doesn't need to be oversized to be capable. Built on the same footprint as a standard city bike, the HSD carries a single child or adult passenger, a week of groceries, or a loaded pannier set, all without the parking-space demands of a full-length cargo bike. For Canadian families and commuters trying to cut down on car trips without committing to something the length of a delivery van, the HSD P00 is the compromise that doesn't feel like one.
Power comes from the Bosch Performance motor, delivering 75 Nm of torque and boosting pedal input by up to 340%, enough to pull away from a stop with a loaded rear rack or climb a hill in Ottawa or Gatineau without breaking stride. The Bosch PowerPack 545 battery backs it up with a real-world range of up to 135 km, and the Bosch Purion 200 display keeps the cockpit clean while still giving full control and connectivity through the Bosch eBike Flow app, including an integrated electronic bike lock. Instead of a derailleur, the HSD P00 runs an Enviolo Heavy Duty continuously variable hub with a 380% gear range and a twist shifter, paired with a Gates Carbon Drive belt that never needs oiling and shrugs off road grime, slush, and salt.
The P00 spec is the top of the HSD line, and it shows in how the bike handles loaded. A longer wheelbase and low center of gravity keep the bike stable at speed or under a heavy rack load, Magura hydraulic disc brakes with 180 mm rotors provide the stopping power a loaded cargo bike actually needs, and a Suntour custom suspension fork takes the edge off rougher pavement. The rear rack is rated to 80 kg on its own, and the bike's total gross vehicle weight allowance runs to 190 kg, so a rider, a passenger, and a full load of cargo all fit within spec rather than pushing past it.
Safety is verified, not just claimed. The complete e-bike system is certified to UL 2849, and the frame and fork carry EN 17860 certification rated to that same 190 kg gross vehicle weight, third-party testing that matters when the cargo on board includes a child. The cockpit adjusts without tools to fit riders from 4'11" to 6'7", which means one HSD P00 can realistically be the household bike rather than a bike sized for just one person in the family.
