The Moustache Lundi 27 Chain is the first Lundi built around Bosch's all-new Hub Line motor, and it's the lightest, quietest version of Moustache's signature city bike yet. Everything about it is tuned for one kind of riding: short trips, frequent stops, constant restarts, the actual rhythm of getting around a Canadian city rather than a weekend century ride. Sensor fusion in the motor reads your pedaling in real time and adjusts assistance automatically, tapering off at 32 km/h (the standard assist cutoff for power-assisted bicycles in Canada), so there's no mode-switching or manual input between a red light and the next block, just instant, natural-feeling boost from the first pedal stroke. An optional throttle can be connected to the Purion 200 display that lets you move under motor power alone when you want to, useful for getting rolling from a stop with a loaded rack.

That new Hub Line motor is built into the rear wheel itself rather than at the pedals, weighing about 2.3kg, and it's paired with a 360Wh battery (about 2.1kg) good for roughly 80km of real-world range. The result is a bike that feels lighter in hand and quieter underway than a traditional mid-drive e-bike, with Bosch backing the Hub Line's components and dirt protection to the same reliability standard as its premium mid-drive motors, and a modular design that lets authorized dealers replace individual components without rebuilding the wheel.

Comfort comes from the iconic Moustache handlebar, an open, upright grip position that keeps you aware of traffic rather than hunched over it, backed by a 40mm suspension seatpost that takes the edge off streetcar tracks and frost-heaved pavement. The open frame comes in two sizes (XS/S and M/L) so getting on and off in work clothes isn't a production, and Shimano MT200 hydraulic disc brakes (180mm front, 160mm rear) paired with Schwalbe Super Moto-X tires (27.5x2.40) and a Shimano 9-speed drivetrain handle the mix of pavement, gravel paths, and potholes that come with real commuting.

City-readiness is built in, not bolted on: full aluminum mudguards, integrated front and rear lighting, and a MIK HD-compatible rear rack rated for dual QL3 accessories and child seats up to 27kg all come standard, with a MIK HD front rack available as a separate option for riders who need more carrying capacity. An ABUS frame lock is integrated into the frame itself, with an optional Bosch ConnectModule GPS tracker or AXA chain for anyone locking up in a higher-traffic downtown area.

It's worth being upfront about the one real trade-off: a hub motor is tuned for smooth, quiet, low-maintenance city and rolling-terrain riding, not for grinding out steep, sustained climbs the way a Performance Line mid-drive is built to. A rider on mostly flat-to-moderate terrain will feel completely at home; a rider with a consistently hilly daily commute may want to compare it against one of Moustache's mid-drive models before deciding.
