Product Details

Most e-bike chains lock you into one speed count. Buy the wrong one and it's back to the parts wall. The KMC eGlide EPT sidesteps that problem entirely: it's built to run on 9, 10, and 11 speed Shimano CUES drivetrains, which means one chain covers a range of e-bikes instead of three separate SKUs. That's possible because Shimano designed the CUES lineup around a single, unified sprocket spacing across all three speed tiers, so the chain line and cassette geometry stay consistent whether the bike shifts through 9, 10, or 11 gears. KMC builds the eGlide EPT to that shared 1/2'' x 11/128'' width, so it engages cleanly with any CUES cassette in that range rather than needing a narrower chain as the speed count climbs, the way older, non-unified drivetrains require.

That compatibility matters more on an e-bike than a standard bicycle. Every part of the drivetrain works harder under motor assist, and the chain takes the brunt of it. The eGlide EPT is built specifically for e-bikes with mid-motors, with pins sized to handle the higher torque a mid-drive motor puts through the chain that a cyclist alone never generates. It's approved for e-bike use rather than adapted from a standard bicycle chain, which is the detail worth checking before fitting any chain to a mid-motor system.

The other half of the design is EPT, KMC's EcoProTeQ coating. Rather than a single external layer, EPT treats each component of every link individually, so the protection sits on the whole part rather than just its outer surface. KMC rates it to hold off visible rust for 650 hours in salt spray testing, roughly double a conventional coating, which is the difference that shows up on a chain that spends a Canadian winter riding through road salt and slush rather than sitting in a heated garage. The coating also leaves a smoother running surface and sheds dirt more readily, so there's less buildup to clean off between rides.

Installation uses a MissingLink, KMC's quick-connect link that snaps together and releases by hand, no chain tool or replacement pin required. Between the drivetrain compatibility, the mid-motor-rated construction, and the anti-rust coating, the eGlide EPT is built to be the one chain a 9, 10, or 11 speed CUES e-bike actually needs, in dark silver at 132 links.
