The Gazelle Ultimate C380 enters 2027 as the newest generation of Gazelle's Ultimate line, a ground-up platform redesign that succeeds two earlier Ultimate generations and earned the 2026 iF Design Award along the way. It's built for riders who want an active, dynamic feel without trading away the upright comfort Gazelle is known for, and the C380 is the premium trim in the redesigned lineup: the one built for riders who want the smoothest, most seamless ride with the least amount of fuss.
Nearly every major system on this generation is new. A next-generation Bosch Smart System Performance Line motor delivers 75Nm of torque, enough to flatten hills around Ottawa and the National Capital Region without a hard shove off the line, while a new Bosch Kiox 300 display adds onboard navigation and ride data at a glance, replacing the simpler displays of earlier Ultimate generations. The drivetrain is where the C380 earns its "premium" badge: an Enviolo stepless hub pairs with a Gates carbon belt drive, so there's no chain to grease, no derailleur to index, and no gear to hunt for at a stoplight, just a twist-grip shifter and continuously smooth power delivery. A redesigned frame integrates the battery, motor, and all cabling cleanly into the tubing, upright 70.5-degree geometry keeps the rider's head up and sightlines clear, and an air-sprung front fork, a suspension seatpost, and wide 55mm Schwalbe Green Marathon tires (built from 80% recycled and renewable materials) take the edge off rough pavement and light gravel, because a spine shouldn't have to report every pothole.
The details carry the same attention. A new adjustable stem with an Intelli-Mount interface holds a smartphone right at eye level, an integrated rear light automatically brightens under braking for extra visibility in traffic, and a MIK-compatible aluminum rear carrier is ready for panniers or a cargo basket the moment it's unboxed. Gazelle engineered this generation specifically to land at a more accessible price point than previous Ultimate models, without cutting the features that make the platform premium. Against a cheaper e-bike generally, the value case is just as strong: a belt drive and stepless hub mean dramatically less maintenance over the life of the bike, the Bosch system is UL 2849 certified for battery and electrical safety, and the frame is backed by a 10-year warranty, not the pro-rated coverage some budget brands rely on.
The Ultimate C380 is available in a Low-Step frame (sizes S/46, M/53, L/57, in pebble grey matte or born blue matte) and a High-Step frame (M/53, L/57, in born blue matte), so fit isn't a compromise either way. Riders comparing it to the rest of the redesigned Ultimate range will notice the C380 is the one built to disappear underneath you: quieter, lower-maintenance, and more connected than the T10 or C5, with the Kiox navigation display and the newest generation of Gazelle's technology built in from day one.
